Vitae International Researcher Development Conference 2023 - September 2023

Lots of planning is happening behind the scenes in preparation for the launch of the Vitae International Researcher Development Conference 2023. This policy and practice themed event is aimed at all those with a stake in research culture, careers and development of researchers and the research landscape.

Following on from the success of last year’s multi-format event, we will once again be hosting an inclusive online element, as well as meeting in person at a new location (to be announced soon!) with increased capacity for an expanded programme.

Member benefits

Researcher Development Concordat thematic sessions

Continuing our support for member institutions in implementing the Researcher Development Concordat, our three Concordat thematic sessions are all now open for member bookings. Topics include supporting managers, sustainable academic careers and measuring impact.

Note however that due to staff illness the session: ‘Designing success (measures): setting targets to measure impact’ has been re-scheduled to Wednesday 26 April.

Culture, Employment and Development in Academic Research Survey (CEDARS) practice-sharing event - Tues 21 February 2023 - 14:00-15:30 GMT

The date for the CEDARS practice sharing event has been confirmed and we are delighted that Dr Janet Metcalfe, Principal, Vitae will be joining us to share insights into the survey for 2023.

CEDARS provides an up to date picture of the UK environment, culture, professional development and employment of academic research staff and the experiences of their managers, with many findings likely to be relatable to institutions worldwide. Survey topics include equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), job satisfaction, career support, research integrity, and bullying and harassment. Learnings from the survey can help us improve research culture on a global scale.

If you are contemplating running CEDARS at your institution, please contact us at: CEDARS@Vitae.ac.uk. CEDARS will be running from the beginning of March.
