Concordat events

Four launch events have been planned to disseminate the Researcher Development Concordat to key audiences, with representation from members of the Concordat Strategy Group (CSG). Three were held in September, with a fourth in October.

11th-12th September 2019

The Universities UK Annual Conference

This event, hosted at the University of Birmingham, was mainly aimed at senior leaders within higher education and included speeches and workshops from CSG members, including Prof Julia Buckingham, CBE, Chair of the CSG and President of UUK, Dr Janet Metcalfe, Head of Vitae, Dr Katie Wheat, Head of HE Engagement for Vitae, Dr Anjali Shah, CSG representative for UKRSA, and Dr David Sweeney, Executive Chair of Research England.

13th September 2019

Shaping Postdoc Culture - The Second National Postdoc Conference

This event, hosted at Queen Mary University, London, was mainly aimed at postdocs and research fellows and included speeches and workshops from CSG members, including David McAllister, Associate Director of Research and Innovation Talent for BBSRC, Dr Katie Wheat, Head of HE Engagement for Vitae and Dr Anjali Shah, CSG representative for UKRSA.

16th-17th September 2019

Vitae International Researcher Development Conference

This event, hosted at Birmingham Hilton Metropole, was mainly aimed at researcher developers, careers professionals and senior leaders, and included speeches and workshops from CSG members, including Prof Julia Buckingham, CBE, Chair of the CSG and President of UUK, Dr Janet Metcalfe, Head of Vitae, Dr Katie Wheat, Head of HE Engagement for Vitae, and Dr Anjali Shah, CSG representative for UKRSA.

16th October 2019

Researcher Development Concordat Launch - Wales

This event, to be hosted at Cardiff Marriott Hotel, is open to all interested stakeholders from across the UK. It will profile work that has been taking place in Wales, and will set ambitions for the response to the new concordat over the coming years. The event will also give delegates the opportunity to identify shared challenges and create a work programme to feed into the UK-wide Concordat activities.

This event is supported by the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW). Prof Julia Buckingham, CBE, Chair of the CSG and President of UUK, will be delivering the keynote speech.
