Update on the Concordat secretariat
From 2008, Vitae acted as the secretariat for the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers on behalf of the Concordat Strategy Group (CSG), overseeing administration and support for the sector, including reporting on progress, delivering the consultation in 2018 and organising the writing and publication of the new Researcher Development Concordat in 2019, among other responsibilities. As part of the process, the CSG announced a review of governance structures surrounding the Concordat and, as part of this evolution, Universities UK (UUK) took on the secretariat role in 2021 creating a valuable opportunity to bring all Concordats together under one umbrella.
Vitae continues to play an active role in the UK level implementation of the Concordat. UUK recognises the significant contribution that Vitae has made to the development of the Concordat and expects that Vitae will continue to play a pivotal and key role in the future development of the Concordat.
Vitae will also continue to manage the HR Excellence in Research Award for Vitae organisational members, which provides recognition of institutional efforts in implementing the Principles of the Concordat. As part of membership Vitae offer support to institutions in preparation for submissions, members should continue to contact concordat@vitae.ac.uk with any queries around the HR Excellence in Research Award process.
Going forward, Concordat queries should be sent to the following UUK email address: CDRsecretariat@universitiesuk.ac.uk
